Welcome Note - Jan 24, 2010

Aatmeeya Kannadigare,

The new Working Committee of the Sahyadri Kannada Sangha wishes you and your family a Happy New Year 2010. After a very successful year in 2009 the executive committee has given us the opportunity to organize events in 2010 and grow our Sangha further. We thank the Committee members for the excellent work during the year 2009 and WE ARE PROUD of their achievements.

Aligning with the vision of the Sangha, the new working committee will strive to increase opportunities for the Kannada community to get together and enjoy various activities celebrating our culture and heritage, to attract Kannadigas of all ages and interests and help foster a feeling of community and to provide children of Kannada Origin, a friendly environment for learning the Kannada culture/language and to provide an opportunity for community service.

Executive Committee:

There has been progress in procuring 501- (C )(3) status and we are expecting to obtain it this year. As you are aware, the status will help our Sangha establish credentials as a Non-Profit organization. Per the requirements of 501- (C )(3), in addition to the Working Committee, an Executive committee has been established. This committee will be responsible for laying out the long term goals and vision for the Sangha.

Membership details

Annual Membership: $25/Family. The annual membership has been reduced for the year 2010 to encourage more participation. The benefits of membership are:

• Invitation for all Kannada programs/Activities 
• Discounted Entry Fees for Ugadi and Deepavali/Rajyotsava Events
• Free Admission to Kannada School
• Participation in cultural events (please note that Sangha membership is a pre-requisite for all cultural events participants)

We look forward to an eventful year and solicit your support, encouragement, feedback and participation in all our activities to enhance the Sangha’s reach and stature. Please support your organization by becoming members and actively participating in our activities.  The Sangha runs on the funds contributed in the form of membership and collections during some of our larger events.
